Introduction

INDION Mixed Bed Demineraliser Plant embodies a single column of INDION 225H cation exchange resin and INDION FFIP strong base anion exchange resin mixed intimately together. Water passing through the column comes repeatedly in contact with these resins and is thus in effect subjected to an almost Infinite number of demineralising stages. Demineralised water of extreme purity is produced – purity that cannot be equalled by any other commercial method.

Mixed Bed Demineraliser is regenerated with acid and caustic but the ion exchange resins must be separated before this can be done. Bed separation is accompanied by backwashing, this carries the lighter anion resin to the top of the column and the heavier cation resin sinks to the bottom. Two completely separated and superimposed layers are thus formed into which the acid and caustic solutions and rinse water are introduced through specially designed distributors. After regeneration the two resins are remixed with compressed air.
