Glycerol Purification              

Ion exchange is used commercially for the production of refined glycerin from crude glycerin solutions. Both deionization and color removal are important. The choice of ion exchange resins and systems will vary, depending upon the composition of the crude glycerin solution and the nature of the impurities to be removed. A strongly acidic cation exchanger followed by a weakly basic anion exchanger is used to remove the major impurities.
