The silica can also polymerise and lead to hard deposits. The presence of suspended solids leads to deposits called fouling. The microbiological organisms such as algae and bacteria tend to grow in the environment provided by the cooling system and its presence can lead to bio-fouling and Microbiologically Induced Corrosion (MIC).
